About the author

I am the youngest of four, and was raised in the ‘backyard’ of Mt. Rainier in Graham, WA. My childhood memories include picking blackberries in the back woods, canning a year’s supply of canned goods every summer, picking apples from our apple trees and making applesauce, pies, crisps and cobblers each fall, and eating the best country, home-cooked meals all prepared by my mom. Back in the ‘80’s, I was not only working 6 days a week in a French Bakery in Fresno, CA. but I was also trying to get my own cookie business off the ground. After just four short weeks of taking orders and baking on my one day off from the bakery, my customers were ordering 60 – 70 dozen cookies a week and I was running myself ragged trying to keep up with it all. It was then that I chose to end my business, in order to keep the more secure job at the bakery. However, it wasn’t until after my mom passed away in 1997 that I got the idea to start writing cookbooks. I wanted to preserve all the family recipes from past generations, so our traditional foods wouldn’t be lost to poor memories years down the road. That is when the idea was born to make a cookbook of all the recipes I had created and changed over the past years of raising my family, attending church potlucks, cooking for family during the holidays, and entertaining family and friends. I am currently living in a little town in Northern Texas, but I will always be a Washingtonian at heart. Some of these recipes take me back to a time when all my family members were still living and life seemed simpler somehow. All that takes place back on a farm in Graham, WA. since that is where my memories were born.
