About this ebook

From Rob Thomas, the creator of the television series and movie phenomenon Veronica Mars, comes the first book in a thrilling mystery series that picks up where the feature film left off.

Ten years after graduating from high school in Neptune, California, Veronica Mars is back in the land of sun, sand, crime, and corruption. She’s traded in her law degree for her old private investigating license, struggling to keep Mars Investigations afloat on the scant cash earned by catching cheating spouses until she can score her first big case.

Now it’s spring break, and college students descend on Neptune, transforming the beaches and boardwalks into a frenzied, week-long rave. When a girl disappears from a party, Veronica is called in to investigate. But this is no simple missing person’s case; the house the girl vanished from belongs to a man with serious criminal ties, and soon Veronica is plunged into a dangerous underworld of drugs and organized crime. And when a major break in the investigation has a shocking connection to Veronica’s past, the case hits closer to home than she ever imagined.

In Veronica Mars, Rob Thomas has created a groundbreaking female detective who’s part Phillip Marlowe, part Nancy Drew, and all snark. With its sharp plot and clever twists, The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line will keep you guessing until the very last page.

Loved it! Rob Thomas and company did a great job with the movie, and after reading Book One in the new series which takes place months after The 10 yr H.S. reunion from the film, I'm canceling my plans today to get started on Book 2. Thanks for reminding me why Veronica Mars was such a great series and that the power of your words " Rob Thomas " can bring everyday fans to invest and pay for the production of a Major Motion Picture without getting to preview word one. Be Proud...and keep the stories coming!

The best thing I can say about this book is that it genuinely feels like a Veronica Mars story, not fan fiction as many books from movies/tv can feel. If you're truly a VMars fan, there is a lot to appreciate about it, particularly how relevant it feels. This isn't just some random story from her life. Threads from the series and movie are followed up in important ways. Its a little lacking in humor compared to its source material, but is still a delight.

This book is absolutely FANTASTIC. It's a great read with lots of action and lots of unpredictable twists and turns. And maybe some shocking surprises ;). Seen the movie and/or show or not, it will appeal to you. Once you get into this book, there's no backing out. You're hooked. I finished it in a day! It contains the same loveable characters and even some new ones. If you have barely or no knowledge about the series, don't worry. You know what they say: Veronica Mars, she's a marshmallow.
