Although this book is the last installment in the McCormick family series, it holds up well as a stand alone. As a mature couple, Maureen and Adam, get a second chance at love. Their story plays out as they deal with their own baggage and the opinions of family … pro and con…. on the relationship. And there's a story within the story when Maureen spends an evening before a fire with the elderly Elise.. All the characters are deftly drawn and engaging. You can easily empathize and feel involved in their lives as the bumpy road to HEA rolls along against a holiday background. Definitely deserves a spot on your to be read list!

This book is so good. I loved the characters and the story. The characters are a little older now but as the story unfolds we get the story of how they came to be where they are now in their lives, all the sacrifices that were made. And the ending was perfect.
