Așa explica într-una dintre omiliile sale: Gândește-te că Dumnezeu te vrea fericit și că, dacă pui și tu puțin de la tine, vei fi fericit, foarte fericit, nespus de fericit, chiar dacă în niciun moment nu vei putea abandona crucea. Însă această cruce nu va mai fi un eșafod, ci tronul de pe care domnește Isus. Iar alături de el se află maica sa, care este deopotrivă maica noastră. Sfânta Fecioară îți va da puterea de care ai nevoie pentru a merge cu pași neșovăielnici pe urmele fiului său.
