About this ebook

He has wings, but this alien is no angel…

Traumatized by the deaths of his family and the destruction of his planet, Wingman lands on Earth in search of a haven and the solitude to nurse his emotional wounds. When a chance decision foils a kidnapping, he’s drawn into the life of a young widow and her daughter. He’s shocked to discover the human woman is his genmate, the one he’s genetically bonded to.

To escape a stalker, Delia and her imaginative, impressionable daughter flee to a small town where nobody can find them. She’s concerned, but not overly so, when her daughter says she invited an angel to her birthday party.

Then the winged alien shows up, and all heck breaks loose. After a rocky first encounter, Delia begins to see Wingman for what he really is—a wounded hero, one of the most protective, sexiest men she’s ever met.

As passion deepens their bond, past dangers resurface to threaten Delia and her child. Will Wingman be able to confront his demons to make the sacrifice necessary to protect them?

The second book in the series and it’s Wingman’s turn. It’s quite interesting how the castaways try to fit in with the people in Argent and it brought out some laughs. Looks easy on the surface but our protagonist had deeper issues to deal with. It’s just incredible how love gave him the courage to face his trauma and save his future. Joshua Carter has had a crush on the gorgeous Kinsley Lane for years. A crush that Josh had never acted on because Kinsley's brother Colton was his best friend and they'd promised each other that they'd never hit on the other's sister. So when Kinsley wants to start dating, Josh offers to be her matchmaker. Maybe this will help Josh get over the crush ... so what happens when Kinsley gets all dolled up to go on a date with other guys? The Bookworm's Guide to Dating is a funny, drama-filled and steamy story that will have you rooting for the hero and heroine to get together. I can't wait to read The Bookworm’s Guide to Faking It, Book 2 of The Bookworm's Guide series.

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was good, with no typos that I caught and well constructed sentences. The world building was competent if not especially vivid. The characterization was good, with hero and heroine both being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic. I found it sweet and heartfelt. The plot and pacing were tight and quick, meaning I read this novel in one sitting. There was low angst and very high stakes in this novel, which I tend to prefer in my romance novels. This novel used the Fated Mates trope and the Child in Danger trope. The world building was three stars. The plot and pacing were four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel had a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy sci-fi romances with a sweet small town feel. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases, though I do not think I will be buying myself a keeper copy of this romance.
