Nate and Abby’s love story in The Right Cowboy by Megan Ryder, book three in her Granite Junction series, is an emotional tale of heartache, healing and love. Abby Bryd Gaines and Nathan Holt are a charming together, and not quite as opposite as they first appear. Abby was traveling across the country, from North Carolina to California, where she was opening a coffee shop with her friend Melanie when her ancient Toyota Camry decided to break down on the outskirt of Granite Junction; the town where her father lives. Call it fate, but encountering an escaped beefalo and then being rescued by the handsome sheriff, Nate, was just the beginning of what Abby’s future could be. Having to stay in a town where everyone knew everyone else while her car was repaired, Abby decided to make the best of the situation. There was a strong chemistry between Abby and Nathan; off-the-charts sizzling chemistry and an intense magnetic attraction. Although, Nathan, believed he would never marry, not wanting to put another woman through what his mother endured after his father was killed on the job. Spending time with Abby gave him a peek of what his life could look like, if only he would take a chance. Abby is determined to get back on the road toward California and help with the coffee shop; but she has left her heart in Granite Junction. When things go wrong, they go big time, and it will take trust, understanding, and love to help Nathan and Abby find a forever, together. Or maybe an escaped beefalo is actually a matchmaker, bringing these two lost souls together. Ms. Ryder wrote a wonderful, emotional, and heartwarming story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, clever banter, endearing characters and the return of some of my favorite Granite Junction characters giving Nathan and Abby a chance for love and a future together. I highly recommend The Right Cowboy to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. While this is a part of a series, you don't have to read the prior stories to enjoy this one. I would highly recommend it though as they are wonderful stories that you shouldn't miss. The prior couples do make multiple appearance throughout but they don't affect this story-line. I was so waiting for Nathan's story and it was worth the wait. I have adorned him from his first mention in the series (I have a thing for deputy and sheriff stories!!) Nathan is a dreamy protective hero that has a tender heart on the inside. Abby is the tough rebellious woman struggles to connect to her father and his abrupt departure from her life. Nathan faithfully protects the town and it's people above all, even including his personal happiness. His father was a prior sheriff who lost his life while on a call. Nathan was away in college at the time. Abby Gaines (Byrd) is on her way to California. She recently lost her mother to cancer. She discovered her long lost dad is living in Granite Junction. She is unsure if she should see him or just go on to fulfill her dreams of opening a coffee shop with her BFF. Well her car made the decision for her and broke down just outside of Granite Junction. Abby and Nathan are attracted to each other but neither want a relationship for so many reasons. Can they get over their different reasons? Will mysterious thefts are happening around town keep him too busy? Nathan's duty as sheriff keep interrupting their attempts at being together. There is also the disappearing beefalo that keeps appearing where Abby goes. Will they be able to catch him? Well you will have to read the book to find out yourself. This is a steamy read.

Abby ends up stuck in Granite Junction when her car breaks down, forced to confront the father who abandoned her, the town who wants to welcome her and hopes she stays around at least at first, and Sheriff Nathan who is afraid to start a family and hurt them like his father did when he was killed in the line of duty. I would have been hurt and angry too when Abby is accused of being behind all the robberies. I could see who should have been considered early on and don’t know why Nathan and Jo did not. Other than that incident the town was very welcoming and helpful even if they had to know each others business. Buford should be the town mascot with all the attention he was getting. I would try Homer too on the lowest settings. There were plenty of laugh out loud and some emotional moments.
