This publication presents an introductory study, of didactic nature, to Plautus’ Bacchides. Aspects related to the context, the characteristics, the structure and the characters of the play are discussed, as well as the problem of Plautus’ originality regarding the creation of the ‘third deception’
Cláudia Teixeira é professora auxiliar do Departamento de Linguística e Literaturas da Universidade de Évora e investigadora do Centro de Estudos Clássicos e Humanísticos da Universidade de Coimbra. Na sua actividade de investigação tem privilegiado a literatura latina, particularmente a Eneida de Virgílio e os romances de Petrónio e Apuleio. Neste momento, integra a equipa que está a traduzir a Historia Augusta.
Cláudia Teixeira is assistant professor at the Department of Linguistics and Literatures of the University of Évora and member of the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies of the University of Coimbra. Her chief research interests lie in Latin Literature, especially in Virgil’s Aeneid and in Petronius’ and Apuleius’ novels. She is currently working on the translation of Historia Augusta.
