This book is a wonderful story of how our outlook on life can affect our mannerisms and behavior. Sara is such a good example of trying to be the kind of person people will look to and admire, simply because she always tries to do good. While Moss Minchin's ending is far more satisfying in the end and we understand the motives behind her actions, I hope she has learned from Sara to treat others kindly and with love, no matter their station. Sara's kindness changed the lives of many people in search of love

Have loved this story my ENTIRE life. I heard it the first time inutero and have read/had it read TO me almost 100 times since. Sorry Shirley Temple fans, the best version of this on film was done for Masterpiece Theater on PBS (1986-87). Too bad I can't find it on dvd anywhere.
