A good second addition to the series. As Syxe continues to settle into her new life at the academy things start to look up when she discovers she may have found her family, unfortunately, bad news follows when she receives another summons from the Shadow Association. This well-written, fast-paced read was very enlightening, and I look forward to reading the next installment. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

'Shadow Prophet' is the second book in Laura Greenwood's "Scythe Grove Academy" series and continues with Syxe's story. She and Mathias are growing closer and she's more fully understanding what her Seer heritage means. Juliet suggests that she try to find out about her parents and Syxe's jumps at the chance also it's going to be difficult to find out how she ended up with the Shadow Association. Not only that, but that group won't give up trying to force her to leave the Academy and take the Oath. That Oath could bind her and any child she might have in the future to them. Although Mathias promises to stick by her and make sure she's not taken during her search, Syxe starts to have second thoughts about their connection and pulls away from him in order to protect her heart. It's a good story to just get lost in for a bit even if it is a bit predictable. It's nice to just get away for a bit.

While typically stories of this length don't have such fleshed out characters/settings/etc., Greenwood manages to conquer this obstacle. Can't wait to see where this series goes in the third book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
