About this ebook

Veterinarian Hunter Beckett just got roped into his nightmare: a bachelor auction to raise funds for a local charity. While he’s a hottie, most in town see him as a curmudgeon, a man who manages to be cranky, even after he’s saved your dog’s life. But when women start bidding on him like crazy—one aggressive hairdresser in particular—Hunter’s in need of a savior and finds it in the form of Kit, his veterinary resident. It’s a mercy purchase, but one that puts him in a bind: Kit wants something in return.

Kit Cowie’s come all the way out to the boonies because of her love of large animal medicine, and because Hunter needs a new resident—badly. But now that she’s got the job, she finds that Hunter is only holding her back, making her give shots to puppies while he’s off doing what she’d really love: fixing broken bones and saving horses’ lives. Now that she’s rescued him from the auction, Kit hopes she can leverage this to get more access in the office. What she didn’t expect is for Hunter to follow the rules of the bachelor auction—or for their date go so wonderfully right, ending with a sizzling kiss.

But Hunter is sure that the kiss was a mistake and believes they should keep things professional between them. However, the more time he spends with Kit, the more his emotions beg him to see this relationship to passionate fruition, even though he knows Kit is only here for a rotation until her position at her own family’s vet clinic goes into effect and she’s gone forever.

As the two get more involved, they face the real possibility that their growing love could lay waste to their reputations or become something far more precious.

This novel contains sexual content and profanity.

I am completely to falling for all these Beckett brothers. Hunter’s a dedicated veterinarian who takes his role as peacemaker between his oldest and youngest brothers seriously. Kit’s weighed down under family obligations and this residency is her last chance to do something with her career for herself. I loved watching this pair together. They brought out the best and worst in each other as they realized that they wanted more from their lives. The push/pull of their desires versus their obligations made for some compelling reading. And after the super sweet epilogue, I can’t wait to read about the last single brother standing. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Beckett Brothers series. In this book, Hunter is the middle brother and the town vet. Hunter has to take an intern to renew his license and Kit wants to learn about larger animals. Kit is going to take over her father's vet practice so he can retire and care for her mother who has MS. Kit would rather work with large animals, but she knows her parents are counting on her. When Hunter takes part in a charity auction, Kit saves him by bidding on him at the last minute. Hunter is attracted to Kit, but he knows it is against the rules to date her and she will be leaving. Hunter also thinks he doesn't have time for a relationship. When Hunter and Kit start to work together, he starts to realize how special she is and how smart she is, making her even more attractive. Kit is attracted to Hunter, and she got carried away after helping a pregnant horse give birth and she hugs him, and Hunter kisses her. They begin seeing each other, but agree to keep it a secret so they don't get in trouble at work and it will only be a fling because Kit is leaving. I enjoyed this book as well. I liked Hunter, i thought he was trying to keep everyone happy and put himself last. I think he really cared for Kit, but was scared she didn't feel the same. Kit was scared to disappoint her parents, but she had her own dreams. Kit was willing to put her own happiness on hold to make everyone else happy. Good one.

I enjoyed this second story in the "Beckett Brothers" series. This is Hunter's story! He is the towns vet, who has a great rep as that but also is a bit cranky. He is about to be auctioned off for charity to the highest bidder. His new resident, Kit, who also happens to be his sister-in-laws best friend, helps save him from going to one of the older ladies in town. They go on the date and share a kiss. Things change and more happens. I enjoyed the development of this fairly fast paced quick read. It's a good summer read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

About the author

Leslie North is the pen name for a critically-acclaimed author of women's contemporary romance and fiction. The anonymity gives her the perfect opportunity to paint with her full artistic palette, especially in the romance and erotic fantasy genres.

The truth of the matter is she loves her fictional persona, Leslie North, more than her normal, day-to-day persona! Her bestselling books focus on strong characters and particularly women who aren't afraid to challenge an alpha male. Inspired after years of travel, her stories are set all over the world, from the tough streets of Russia to the beautiful beaches of the middle east.

Leslie fell in love with romance when she first picked up a scrappy, dog-eared romance book from her local library. She began writing soon after and the rest, as they say, was history. She now lives in a cozy cottage on the British coast and enjoys taking long walks with her two Dalmatians, George and Fergie.
