James Francom
This book provides an excellent compromise between the Engineer's 'pure motor theory with its ghastly mathematical formulae' and a lay persons completely metaphorical and analogy based over simplifications. This book is aimed directly at the engineering support technicians viewpoint and role. In other words; there is enough detail to satiate most electronic technicians with complete discussion of the theory, but with a minimum of mathematics so that the technician can grasp underlying principles of operation, and gain a trust of the theory behind it, without wading through the heavy numbers. It reads well, it teaches for maximum clarity, and is detailed enough to be a pseudo-reference work in its own right. This is the book I have been looking for, and it has a permanent place on my bookshelf. I highly recommend it!
