A Copper Creek Cowboys Novel

First love always burns hotter . . .

Ash MacKenzie broke his share of hearts when he left Copper Creek all those years ago and struck out on his own. Tall, tough, and proud. That's how Brenna always remembered him, and from the looks of things, he hasn't changed much. Once, she thought he could save her-whisk her away from her rough childhood home and start fresh together. Now she knows better . . .

Ash isn't planning to stick around town long. As soon as he uncovers the truth about his father's death and makes sure the family ranch is safe, he'll be back out on his own. And then he runs into Brenna Crane. It broke his heart to leave her once-a herd of stampeding horses couldn't make him do it again. But Brenna has made a new life for herself, one that doesn't include him. Now he just has to convince her to give their first love a second chance.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers shivering in anticipation with suspense and romance. The author brings the story to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination, while the well orchestrated suspense and action adds excitement and drama. The characters are strong, compelling and invite the reader to visit Copper Creek and get to know them. Brenna tried to move on with her life but the truth is she never stopped hoping that Ash would take her away from her troubled past and now that he’s back she knows better than to trust him but the attraction stills burns hot. Escalating danger builds anticipation and excitement throughout the story as the it seems someone has it out for Brenna and I must say that was a bit of a surprising and exciting situation. The story has some side plots that adds depth and spice to the story and the captivating characters ensure that the reader want to know all their stories as well. I was completely caught up in the story from the beginning and I am looking forward to reading Whit’s and Griff’s story… hmmm… I can’t make up my mind which brother I like best.

I really like the book, the entire series really. The premise, the characters, the plot, the writing. It was all really good. However, being a ranch kid from Central Montana, I have a few issues with some of the details that are glaringly incorrect about ranching. The biggest issue that stood out the most, however, was that ranchers do not send their herds to calve out up in the hills. Cows are close to home, or at least on the bottomlands, for winter and calving season and up in the hills, mountains, forest service during summer and into fall. A little more research into ranching practices would have gone a long way. Though even with some incorrect information, it didn't hurt the overall feel of the book and series. It's still one of my favorites.
