This is the story of Lia & Hudson & while it is part of a series it can easily be read as a stand alone. Oh my, I absolutely loved Lia & Hudson. Lia is a strong woman, in so many ways. She survived the death of her parents with the help of her foster family, then she survived the disappearence/death of her husband in the war. She is an expert in martial arts and antique firearms. Hudson was, among other things, a sniper in the Army in Afghanastan but when he received a career ending injury he found his expertise in warfare and weaponry came in handy working as a consultant to the movie industry. When Hudson sees Lia at an antique gun show he is impressed not only with her knowledge of antique firearms but also with her beauty. When he tries to approach her after the show she gets away before he can talk to her, but he knows where to find her because he recognized her from his friends wedding & knows she's from Cactus Creek.He is so intrigued with her that he follows her back to town only to find that there are a lot of people keeping others away. But he is determined to find a way to talk to her...
