Bravo, Kaci! This was amazing! I remember Gemma's dad and best friend's story, Knox and Summer in Daddy's Dare. I absolutely loved seeing more of them. This was an excellent story. It was a lot longer than what I'm used to from Kaci, but she did it amazingly well. The story was a page turner. We had the Agent X mystery and we still have some unanswered questions. But the main focus was Carter and Gemma. Carter was so freaking good to Gemma. I loved watching him open up, break his rules and fall for her. And Gemma was so sweet. She was accepting of Carter and what he deemed his imperfections. I loved how they were together and their chemistry. Holy. Cow. It was scorching hot. 🥵🔥 The ending was fantastic and I can't wait for Skye's story. But until then I must go back and reread Knox and Summer's story. 😁 I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Overall, this was pretty good introduction to a new series. There were some plot points that were not resolved in this story, but they were outside of the main story between Gemma and Carter. I am assuming some of these plot points related to potential trouble Club Red may be facing will be resolved in future books. Shortly after ending her engagement, Gemma and her friend Skye visit Club Red for a little bit of fun, but Gemma quickly catches the eye of club owner Carter. Their attraction is quite fast as far as the bedroom is concerned, but they struggle for true connection due to their respective pasts. The steamy scenes were mild in my opinion, but were still steamy enough. Carter is a protective dom, and Gemma is new to lifestyle. Gemma and Carter are complementary in that they both have scars that add to their conflict, but ultimately you root for them in the end. I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. I thought this was a really good way to start the series. Carter and Gemma have that chemistry that makes them want to trust each other. That's important with both of them having their own baggage. Things progress with boundaries laid out, but they find those might be too confining for their feelings. There is plenty of passion between them. I liked how Carter interacted with Gemma as he introduced her to new things. It was a good story that had enough sweet to balance the steam
