This is the sixteenth book in Dale Mayer's "Hathaway House" series , it is always my go to series when I don't want violence or fast action , I just want a beautifully written, heartwarming love story. Percy Erwin lie on his hospital bed contemplating his bleak future, he had filled in the forms that his friend, and ex navy SEAL buddy, Aaron had sent him, could Hathaway House do for him what it did for Aaron ? although he was very sceptical, there was only one way to find out. Percy had suffered life changing injuries whilst serving in the navy, he was in constant pain and walking was impossible. Hathaway House was a rehabilitation centre for military personnel, it was like no other, each patient was given a personal holistic program, their mental as well as physical needs were catered for. Giada Tiasco, the purchaser for Hathaway House, had seen Percy when he arrived and she was delivering towels, the conversation between them was easy but Giada could see through his bravado, she couldn't get the handsome Seal out of her mind. Percy began looking forward to Giada's visits and the attraction between them grew. Giada wanted to move into staff accommodation but there was a problem, she had always looked after her elder brother, this was expected in the strict Sicilian family that she had been brought up in, even though he was getting married in six months Francis was furious that she wanted to leave him, how was he going to survive without a woman to do the chores ? All the staff at Hathaway House were worried about Giada and Percy felt helpless, but when he overheard a conversation that he wasn't supposed to hear Percy began to doubt Giada's feelings toward him, Was she moving to Hathaway House for the right reasons ? This is a lovely story embracing different cultures that sometimes don't seem to keep pace with the moving world, of a broken man healing with the help of love and of all the wonderful characters at Hathaway house. Percy is finally at Hathaway House and while he still isn't sure they can help him he is ready to give it a go, what he doesn't expect is Giada. I really liked how Percy and Giada offer advice to each other and they fall for each other slowly and have their own struggles to get through and to be honest there were times I was worried for what would happen to her by her bother. Everyone at Hathaway House really is like a big family and all have different struggles to go through whether physical or mental and it's ok and better to lean on someone to get through it. Percy has arrived at Hathaway House to continue his rehab and is excited to get started. Giada is an employee who has some problems of her own to solve at home and anxious to have a life of her own. Her old school family has been both supporting and frustrating. Each of these characters have endearing hearts, intentions and personalities. Watching them grow and get to know each other and overcoming multiple problems is interesting to say the least. This series is heart warming and continues to tug at the heart strings. It still reminds me to be more giving and understanding. Definitely a wonderful read and I'll happily stick around for more. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
