Miguel de Unamuno y Jugo (September 29, 1864 December 31, 1936) was a Spanish writer and philosopher. Prolific in many genres, including poetry, essays, fiction, and drama, he served as rector of the Universidad de Salamanca in 1900 1924 and 1930 1936. After he was removed from his university chair by the dictator General Miguel Primo de Rivera in 1924, he lived in exile until 1930.
