The free version is an ad-supported version and scanned documents are generated are with watermark, plus a limit of 30 pages of adding annotations; Uploading to Evernote/OneDrive is only available for 7 days; Invite 10 collaborators per document at most.

Permission Overview:
1. Storage: CamScanner needs permission to store docs in your phone.
2. Camera: CamScanner needs permission to use camera to scan docs.
3. Phone: In order to bind Premium membership to your device or to ensure normal use without login, CamScanner needs to get your device ID.

edit: My original review below was in 2016 and STILL appplies.. that's how amazing it is and continues to be. This app is super intuitive, easy to use, and the pictures come out amazing as if you were really scanning them. When I was forced to take online classes for the remainder of my college turn, this was a LIFE SAVER. Not only that, I could scan my homework on the go - at a diner, in the break room, in a car/bus. I couldn't have graduated without it!! I would give it more stars if I could!

When CamScanner doesn't keep pretending my $40/year auto-renewing subscription doesn't exist, and I get the chance to actually use the app, it's AMAZING. Above is an update to a review I left 8 years ago, and I had reported the same problem. Reduced my rating from 5 stars, then to 4, and now to 2. It appears that whenever a new feature is added, CamScanner expects us to upgrade our subscription. Looking for other solutions that aren't so "money-grabby."

I'VE been using CamScanner for some years now. I love that you can pretty much scan everything on the go and share easily. You can scan documents, ID, papers. It gives you the option to convert to pdf, images or word and others. Awesome app to have and use. I've recommended to all my friends and family. Exec my elder members were able to easily use it.
