Duolingo is good to use for learning new vocab and has lots of creative ways to help you in what you're learning. However, with recent changes, it is clear and obvious that they want people to buy Superduolingo. They took away one of main routes of reinforcement. That is being able to practice whenever you want. This would get your hearts (health) back. They took this option away and upped the time it took to normally regain hearts. One could argue that these changes do make it not free anymore.

Edit: Comments have been officially removed. Comments were often critical to understanding the correct answer for me. It never seemed to fail that someone who understood a concept well would leave a comment, open a discussion, or even provide useful memory aids and resources. I'm surprisingly devastated to see such an instrumental element of the app simply discarded. Connectivity issues have improved. Update: Added a star because this is still the best free language app under the sun.

I've been using this app for over 500+ days and have really enjoyed the learning process. The lessons are engaging, and it's easy to track progress and stay motivated. However, the constant push to add people to family plans and the overwhelming amount of ads are starting to wear on me. Having to watch long, irrelevant ads for fake games in order to complete a lesson is really frustrating. It feels like the ads and interruptions are getting in the way of the learning experience.
