I've tried a few of these sorts of alarms over the years, and they make a massive difference to your morning start. To be able to combine a gentle wake (no more adrenaline) and a little bit of light to reinforce your circadian rhythm is perfect. This app has worked almost flawlessly across several android versions, despite the ever increasing limits on background apps and screen access when locked etc. Nothing worse than a missed alarm because of system permissions! Useful updates too :)

I've been using this for a couple of months now and it has never let me down - nor does it shock me awake like some alarms! My only criticism is that setting the snooze timing is a bit confusing. I just want it to give me ten minutes and then start the "wakening" from the beginning but you have to work backwards to achieve that and I'm not entirely sure I've got it right as I'm always half asleep when it goes off!

Sorry if the timing doesn't seem so straightforward! The app is designed mostly around the final alarm time, which is when you really need to get up. The snooze button pushes that time back by five minutes for every press. There's also an option to set the Wakening Time After Snooze. If this isn't clear, let me know at wakening@fastmail.com.

Does exactly what it says. User friendly and simple. Ideally your phone would have to be vertical for the light to be emanating toward the bed rather than the ceiling, otherwise tend to wake up to the sound rather than the light but still gentle enough and gives off enough light by end of wake up cycle le to see safely. Only could be better if sound was also separately phasable and if it was also available for iOS (big niche could to be filled for iPhones, would you pretty please!?).
