Lightning Tracker (Pro) works as advertised for near real time notification of lighting. You can easily get alerts for strikes near you, and adjust the radius you consider 'near'. If you don't allow the app to track your location all the time, it will only alert on the location you last ran the app. However, allowing tracking will easily fix that or you can just open and shut the app if you are at all concerned about lighting.

Overall I really like this app. I work in construction and our safety policy for outdoor work requires a 30-minute safety stand-down after a lightning strike within 10 miles. The ability to set a time of day for notifications to begin and end is great, but being able to set days of the week would be very helpful. I only need the app on workdays. Not a big deal, just something I think about every time I use the app. Overall, a great app though.

Works well, easy to use. Great for hunting, camping, and outdoor activities. However, I use it regularly to check on approaching storms within a 30 mile radius. The central location picked, not at my residence, but to alert for storms coming from typical direction. (Don't care once they pass.) I use 30 miles because lightning can strike up to 25 miles away. I balance radius and direction. Worth it to buy the "PRO" version. It pays the developer's for their hard work!
