About this app

Okta Verify is a lightweight app that allows you to securely access your apps via 2-step verification, ensuring that you, and only you, can access your app accounts.

While you access your apps, you'll choose a 2-step verification method provided by Okta Verify to finish signing in. You can verify your identity using a push notification sent to your device (if enabled by your organization), a temporary 6-digit code, or biometrics (if enabled by your organization).

We do request permission to use your device camera so that you can scan a QR code when you enroll your device with Okta.

Works until it doesn't. Even when allowing the app to use the battery in the background, every few days the icon disappears and the app no longer opens. at that point I have to clear the cache, data, and re-enter all of my information. This is getting so repetitive, inefficient, and annoying. I wish my company still allowed us to verify by getting a code by text.

Not happy I need this app to authenticate for school. It requires some very sketchy permissions such as ability to discover, pair and advertise to nearby bluetooth devices. What does that have to do with authentication? No, they're probably tracking me (and you) to make money from advertisers. Oh, it also has access to your phone calls including the phone numbers of any active calls you're on. It can browse network connections (ie, to attempt to geolocate you). Security nightmare.

It works OK but the "fast pass" feature has never worked for me and takes up phone battery running in the background despite doing nothing. I tried doing it the right way, turning off battery optimization, giving it the permissions it needs, etc. But it simply didn't work. I had to restart the process and sign in with password and code. Now whenever I open the app to get the 2FA code, it starts running in the background and I have to force quit it when I'm done or it will run all day. wasteful
