Smart-ID is the easiest, most convenient and safest way to authenticate yourself online – check your online bank account, access e-services and confirm transactions.

Smart-ID allows you to give signatures equal to handwritten signatures (except Basic level), which complies with EU regulations about qualified electronic signatures.

Smart-ID app does not store your identity or PIN codes. The app is used for key management: it creates your private keys while account registration and later mediates authentication and signature requests. User identity is managed securely by the service provider. A technology has been used in this product for which Cybernetica AS has filed a patent application or a patent has been granted.

Created an account without issues, and have been using it ever since - the majority of online services in Estonia support this app as a login method. Its very fast and convenient. After 2 years of using the app, it had never failed me, did not have any issues so far. Keep in mind that if you have Blokada or something similar, it will block app notifications, so you would need to whitelist the domain that Smart-ID uses.

At present, it is absolutely impossible for me to complete the registration because it requires personal presence. As you know, energy companies frequently change their names and systems, and for customers who are living abroad, the process becomes even more complicated. Without a Baltic phone number or local bank account, I am unable to register, even though my only intention is to pay my bills and provide meter readings.

Since the last update (now at version 32.0.884) phone screen goes black every time I start the app making it useless. No error messages, no warnings, nothing, just a black screen. Only option is to close the app.
