About this app

Samsung Pay is a secure and easy-to-use mobile payment service. You can add the Credit Cards & Debit cards of participating issuers /banks on your Samsung Galaxy smartphones which allows you to make purchases almost everywhere. In Addition, Samsung Pay India also supports Paytm Wallet for Wallet payment methods (Scan QR Code, Show QR Code and sending Money using phone number) and Bank Transfers through the Unified Payment Interface (UPI).
*Samsung Pay currently supports Offline payments only and uses the Patented Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near Field Communication (NFC) to make contactless mobile payments. Samsung Pay works with compatible Point of Sale (POS) terminals, where cards can be swiped or tapped.
Samsung Pay is currently supported on select Galaxy Smartphones – Galaxy S9+, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7, Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy A7(2017), Galaxy A5(2017), Galaxy A7(2016), Galaxy A5(2016) & Galaxy A9 Pro, with more models to follow.
Setting up Samsung Pay is a simple one-time activity. Just Sign in with your Samsung Account ID and register your Fingerprint/PIN which will be used to initiate all transactions through Samsung Pay. Now you are ready to register your card – which can be done by either capturing the card details through the In-App camera or by manually entering the card details.
To make payments using Samsung Pay, launch the app by swiping up from any screen: Sleep mode, Locked screen or Home screen. Once Samsung Pay is launched, select the card of choice by swiping left or right and authenticate the payment using the registered Fingerprint/PIN. Place the phone next to the card machine and your payment is made.
Samsung Pay uses leading edge tokenization and authentication methods to secure your information. Samsung Pay also uses biometrics as a security measure, enabling users to authenticate Samsung Pay via fingerprint or secured PIN. In addition to the security measures implemented by Samsung Pay, Samsung’s KNOX service constantly monitors suspicious activity within the device to protect from any malicious attacks.
In addition to Credit Cards & Debit Cards, users can also register their Paytm wallet by using their mobile number linked to the Paytm Wallet or create a new Paytm Wallet through Samsung Pay. Currently Wallet Payment methods – Scan QR Code, Show QR Code/OTP Code, and sending money using phone number is supported through Samsung Pay. In addition, you can also ‘Add” money to the Paytm wallet on Samsung Pay by tapping on “Wallet” on the main screen of Samsung Pay, followed by tapping the “Add” to open the add money page. Paytm wallets can be topped up using the credit card & Debit cards. Users can make payments using Paytm on Samsung Pay irrespective of having the Paytm app on the Smartphone.
Samsung Pay uses a mix of MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) and NFC (Near Field Communication) to communicate with the card reader. Magnetic Secure Transmission or MST is a ground breaking method of sending data using magnetic waves. MST replicates a card swipe by wirelessly transmitting magnetic waves from the supported Samsung Device to a standard card reader. MST turns every card reader into a contactless payment receiver. NFC is a method of wirelessly transmitting data using radio waves. Samsung Pay uses NFC to wirelessly transmit payment data to payment terminals with NFC readers that have been activated for use.
Samsung Pay currently supports 7 Credit & Debit card Issuers/Bank apart from the Paytm Wallet and UPI based Bank Transfers. For more detailed information on the service and the supported payment methods, please visit – www.samsung.com/in/samsung-pay

Boarding passes service needs to be improved by incorporating more important and relevant information, such as boarding time and class. It should also adopt a more aesthetically pleasing design for boarding passes. Google Wallet is an example of this, as it uses different colors to differentiate between cabin classes, like in the Fly Delta app for example.

Have been using for quite some time and as a previous user wrote it just quit working. Got sick on pin verification page and could never get logged in. Very inconvenient while at the grocery store with a bunch of cold food. Checked for an update and there wasn't one. Un-installed the app and re downloaded it. Went through set up and login but it just sat there loading continuously and never let me in. Deleted it. Will find another mobile wallet. Too much hassle.

This WAS a great and convenient app. Now, every time you use it, you have to pull out your cards, look up your CCV, plus whatever information it doesn't feel like filling in. There's really no point to it anymore. It's not convenient at all and really saves no time. Like so many other stupid decisions Samsung has made they last few years, this too makes owning and using their products less appealing with every iteration.
