The following permissions are required for the app. You can use the app without optional permissions, but some functions may be limited.

• Nearby devices: Used to scan for nearby devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) (Android 12 over)
• Location: Used to find nearby devices using Bluetooth or BLE and to automate actions using GPS (GPS is optional)
• Camera: Used to scan QR codes
• Contacts: Used to get phone numbers of your contacts to send text message notifications
• Microphone: Used to provide voice control features
• Storage: Used to save data and to transfer files and content using the app
• Phone: Used to make calls on smart speakers and to show information about the sender when sharing content with another device

Ratings and reviews

Convenient for volume and changing channel only on regular cable/Samsung TV. Not good for much else. It takes forever to connect to TV every time I open it and half the time it says the TV is off when it's not, so I can't even use it at all. One time a month ago it updated with a better interface when using the remote, then they immediately changed it back to the old interface less than 24 hours later. Weird and janky. If it ever connects, it's good for shutting TV off or cutting vol down.

I have enjoyed the app for years. However, just this week, due to a power outage, some of my switches have disappeared. In an attempt to re-establish connection with 1 switch I reset my hub. All the switches then where gone, I found a hard way to connect my Leviton and eaton switches, but the GE switches are unusable now. The exclusion option is no longer available, and the repair hub options are all gone from the new app. The new app has made it very difficult, if not impossible to repair

Just bought brand a bunch of new Samsung appliances specifically to be able to control it from my smartphone. Turns out that even with the app updated, it can't connect to the app and is not even on the list of supported devices even though the appliances have the smart function and were advertised as such. False advertisement. The appliances that can be controlled have very limited control and bombard your phone with notifications which you can not individually turn off. Worse user experience.

What's new

In order to provide you with better services, some features have been improved in the new version.

- The top side of the “Favorites” tab provides a sweeping view of the the device status information for your home.

- You can invite others to your place simply using the “Share link” menu. (“Favorites” tab > “+” button at the top > “Invite members”)
