The following permissions are required for the app. You can use the app without optional permissions, but some functions may be limited.

• Location : Used to locate your devices, create routines based on your location, and scan for nearby devices using Wi-Fi
• Nearby devices : (Android 12 ↑) Used to scan for nearby devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
• Notifications : (Android 13 ↑) Used to provide notifications about SmartThings devices and features
• Camera : Used to scan QR codes so you can easily add members and devices to SmartThings
• Microphone : Used to add certain devices to SmartThings using high-frequency sounds
• Files and media : (Android 12) Used to save data and share content
• Photos and videos : (Android 13 ↑) Used to play photos and videos on SmartThings devices
• Music and audio : (Android 13 ↑) Used to play sound and video on SmartThings devices
• Phone : (Android 12 ↑) Used to make calls on smart speakers
• Contacts : (Android 12 ↑) Used to get phone numbers of your contacts to send text message notifications

Ratings and reviews

Horrible app. I installed this to help the connection process, upon doing so I go through and put in all of my information, but when it sends the verification code, one of two things happen; I get no notification that the code is sent, or I do get a notification, click to go into my inbox to see the code, then try to get back to the app that's still technically part of the same page. Upon returning to the app, it kicks me out, restarting the process over again and continues to each time I login.

The worst home automation app ever. When connected to android auto, the app keeps spinning and never loads on the car screen. And during that time, the app on the phone closes immediately on opening. Effectively, this app is just a junk. Even if it manages to work in android auto, it can only show very limited devices and routines. And not opening in phone means, we cannot use certain devices. I refuse to buy any Samsung device in the future.

nerfing API access is so 2016. you might want to look at what's happened to literally every other company that has done this. it doesn't end well. we buy products so that we can integrate them into our systems as we like. when you try to control our homes remotely by limiting how we can use the API or removing it, we go with another product. I can't change the products I already have of yours but I won't be buying any going forward unless you change this policy
