In an outpatient clinic, a doctor is treating a patient with community-acquired pneumonia. He decides to treat the patient with a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. He is now faced with the task of calculating the correct dosage. The doctor does not have to calculate this manually or make a rough estimate. Instead, he takes out his mobile phone, clicks on the tool in the app to calculate the amoxicillin/clavulanic acid dosage, enters the patient's age and weight and receives the recommended dose.

A doctor is treating a patient with severe pain in finger joints and liver cirrhosis. Ibuprofen could be a good solution for their condition, but the doctor can’t remember at the moment if it has any limitations concerning liver disease. By tapping on the icon, additional information is displayed and they find out that ibuprofen is contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic dysfunction. After gathering all information in the SmPC, they prescribe a non-steroidal antirheumatic gel.

Ratings and reviews

I work in intensive care medicine, emergency medicine and anaesthesiology and was using the app quite regularly, recommending it to colleagues. I understand the move to a subscription based model for things like the interaction checker, ad-free etc. But the inclusion of the offline mode to the subscription model is a no go for me. Without a subscription you cannot rely on the app to work in an emergency where there is no WiFi or bad mobile signal.
