About this game

***Reigns: Her Majesty has just been crowned with the new Transformation Update with over 200 new cards, new characters, and new ways for her majesty to meet her demise!***

Reigns: Her Majesty is the revolutionary follow-up to the smash swipe ‘em up hit Reigns. A cultural renaissance has bestowed the world with a new era of knowledge and enlightenment but greed and jealousy still conspire against the benevolent queen. Outwit and outlast those that would seek to depose you and your husband by swiping left or right, making just (or unjust) decisions on all manner of royal matters. Maintain the balance between the kingdom’s most powerful factions, use mystical items from your inventory, and navigate the increasingly complex politics and personal relationships of your dynasty.

New Kingdom, New Drama: Your royal decrees and unpredictable requests of the people will shape both your time on the throne and the future of your dynasty. Carefully navigate the foolish politics and emotional pleas of the kingdom’s eccentric subjects to find balance between the most powerful factions of the land.

Mystical Inventory: Find and upgrade five special items in a new inventory system. Use your powerful items on character cards and unlock special paths in the ever more complex narrative of your kingdom.

Royal Challenges: Reach specific goals set before each new monarch’s reign to unlock new sets of cards and new directions to take the story of your dynasty.

Nerial and Friends: Reigns: Her Majesty is a collaboration between François Alliot (design/programming), Arnaud de Bock (art), Jim Guthrie (music), and Leigh Alexander (narrative director).

It's ok, but not as good as the first which I really enjoyed. It just seems a bit convoluted at times, where actions don't seem to match up with stat changes so you die much more easily. There also seems to be a bug where sometimes moving the card without choosing it causes a decrease in some stats and can lead to you dying which is frustrating. I'm also completely stuck because a card I need to come up to continue just won't trigger. (Had to look up a walk through to see what was wrong.)

I loved the first game. I like some of the new mechanics, it allows for more things to happen. It's more then just a few new cards. However, there are a few things wrong. The dueling system is quirky at best. When you understand it, it becomes way too easy. I also came across some technical problems. After turning the frog into the princess, you can still find a frog. Using the book will not do anything though, and I don't know if it's intentional or not. There is also the bug of losing for no reason. I came across this so much where I lose or gain some resources, then I get a death message when my resources are fine. If I swipe, however, the problem resource spikes up or down to make me lose. This happened so much and it cannot be intentional. Still nice when it works, but the first game was better.

It's hard for me to recommend this game. Since it feels like a slightly modified, slightly more annoying version than the original. Don't get me wrong, i think it's a great game and it still does som great things. But if you wanna try it out, go for the first one. Risking being locked out of an ending because a choice you did hours weeks ago, needing pure RNG because if certain cards don't show up in a specific order you can't progress... It's still a great game, but just a copy of a better one.
