We had a tour of Pompeii that we paid extra for a hotel pick up. The day before they said they wouldn't do hotel pick up despite the hotel being in the booking for two months. The return taxi was 80 euros. If they'd said any earlier I would have cancelled and booked with a different company. When I contacted viator support they sided with the tour company and was not able to provide any way that I could have avoided this other than not using their services.

OVERPRICED. Every single tour I booked would have been 15-20% cheaper had I booked locally, from train rides to tours. Not only that, if you book locally, you get better times & more flexibility from operators. When I asked why, everyone said it's b/c Viator charges up to 35% in fees. No one likes dealing w/ them. WORSE: If you cancel, they hold your money for WEEKS, not DAYS. Customer service is a useless! Use the app for research at best, but DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THEM if you want the best deal.

AVOID. This is the worst app and if you intend to save money on any travel deals, best to stay away from them. We booked a local Fiji tour and didn't realise we would have paid a lesser price on the operator's website directly. The best price guarantee is even more lame. All I have been receiving is a templated response from their team without even caring to look into the screenshots supplied. What a bunch of cheating losers. Shame!
