HOW DOES IT WORK?

When you cross paths with another happn user, their profile appears on your app. Did someone catch your eye? Like them secretly. We promise, the person will never know, unless they Like you back. Do you want to stand out? Send them a SuperCrush. Now you can send a message before you even get a Crush. And if the Like is mutual, then the Crush is yours! Now you can chat, and we’re counting on you to make that first message memorable. Show off your writing skills!

The happn app is free to download and to use. If you would like access to more features, you can switch to Premium by purchasing a subscription. With Premium, you get access to the list of people who have Liked your profile and you can send SuperCrushes to your favorite profiles so you’re sure to stand out.

The happn app is based on the principle of reciprocity: you will never receive a message from someone you’re not interested in. At happn, confidentiality is our priority: your location is never visible to other members, only the places you crossed paths with them are shown. Your geolocation will always be active for happn to show you the users you’ve crossed paths with.

Ratings and reviews

Happn has fewer settings than similar apps and notably lacks a filter for languages spoken, so you have no idea if you can communicate with a match, particularly if you don't speak the local language in your area. A distance setting is also missing. It's not good enough simply to look for local matches if someone might be willing to relocate within a country for the right match. E-mail verification fails with a server error, and support says it cannot be verified later. Not worth paying for.

Annoying interface for profiles who liked you. Once you click and match a profile, it takes you back to the beginning of the list not to where you were before you clicked the profile. So if you've been scrolling hundreds of potential matches, you're back at the beginning and would need to scroll down again to continue your browsing! Very frustrating! After the recent update, if you scroll down the profiles that liked you and click one to view it, it doesn't return to where you were in the list!

This app seems to have all kinds of problems. I'll get a notification of a match, and I'll click on it, then try to click on the profile of my match and I just get a spinning loading wheel that never loads. The only thing that seems to work is closing the app and reopening it. Other times, when looking at my matches, I will click yes or no on someone. I briefly see a flash of my next match before it disappears and takes 10 seconds to load, sometimes it will happen 3 times before finally loading
