LEARN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE WITH EVIE
Have Evie repeat each sentence multiple times, then optionally wait for you to repeat.
The key to speaking the language is memorization through repetition.

READ A BOOK IN A LANGUAGE YOU DON'T KNOW
Evie can translate each sentence on the fly, then read the translation out loud to you.
Evie uses the excellent Amazon Neural translation engine, supporting more than 70 languages.

Ratings and reviews

Once you get the right voice, this app is a very nice read along companion that has no limits to what you can have read to you. It's quite a nice app. You can open up quite the number of settings including a pronunciation guide for the reader. The interface is a little complicated, but you can learn it rather quickly. One thing that I would really like fixed is that sometimes when a character stutters as in, "T-That's not true!" the reader will pronounce the "T" instead of blending it.

Although it's very easy to navigate, this app seems a bit misleading. You say Evie is free, but the app says I need to pay to use Evie's voice. I appreciate going ad-free and having no permissions required. I get the other voices such as Azure you have no control over, but I wouldn't mind some ads to support the app and have Evie be free.

I switched to this app from a popular tts reader that wouldn't stop crashing no matter what I did to fix it. The developer tends to be defensive when questioned, & I didn't want to deal with that. I really like this app so far; however, the notification panel only lets me control the app when I first open it. The Evie widget eventually turns into a single bar that shows the buttons, but not the book. Nothing happens when I press the buttons. Notifications are on, & there's no battery use limit.
