I had an issue with Dark Mode on the app but it was speedily resolved so upped my review to 4 to 5 stars. I'm new so still feeling my way around. App is easy to use and I find reading is comfortable both on tablet & even on phone. The sheer mass of content and rapid output is a bit overwhelming at times but as I said, I'm still working it out. As an irregular & at times regular reader of the TLS for 30 years I am glad I have affordable access to the journal.

Among the many design flaws of this app and the inexplicable design choices, I will mention just two. Why do I have to click to see the reviewed book details if these details are what makes me read the review? And then, when I click, often the pop-up sticks to the bottom of the screen, and cannot be moved from there whilst obscuring the last lines, say, number of pages and price. And why only the books reviewed in the In Brief section have their covers shown?

Routinely logs you out of the app, which then requires that you find the subscriber number you were sent in an email in order to log back in. Logging in via the website often simply results in an error. The slider for changing the font size has too few options: either the text is huge or miniscule. Other minor annoyances.
