GETTING STARTED WITH CAPTIONCALL MOBILE IS EASY:

1. Install the CaptionCall Mobile app

2. Create an account. You must provide accurate account information to meet federal requirements and enable your service.

3. Receive your new CaptionCall Mobile phone number for making and receiving captioned calls. Or you can continue using your existing phone number and automatically forward them to CaptionCall Mobile on your mobile device or tablet for captioning.

4. Tap ā€œAllowā€ when asked to grant permissions to CaptionCall Mobile. You'll have quick access to your saved contacts, captioned voicemail and voicemail alerts, and can dial and receive calls from any phone number, just like your regular phone.

5. Use CaptionCall Mobile to start making calls with instant live captions.

CaptionCall Mobile is exclusively for people with hearing loss who need captions to use the phone effectively in the United States only.

CaptionCall and CaptionCall Mobile are available in the United States only. FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS ANYONE BUT REGISTERED USERS WITH HEARING LOSS FROM USING INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP) CAPTIONED TELEPHONES WITH THE CAPTIONS TURNED ON. IP captioned telephone service may use a live operator. The operator generates captions of what the other party to the call says. These captions are then sent to your phone. There is a cost for each minute of captions generated, paid from a federally administered fund. No costs are passed along to individuals who qualify for the service. The CaptionCall phone and app remain the property of Sorenson in order to provide ongoing support, service, and upgrades. Patent information: www.Sorenson.com/Legal.

I can't begin to tell you how often this app has helped me with the phone calls that I would have otherwise hung up on. I do have one issue, however, and I hope it will be an easy fix. The majority of voice messages do not get captioned. In place of a captioned voice message, there's a message that states that it has been clipped (or something to that effect). I updated the app, but it's still not recording. Works fƬne when I answer the phone, but not when a message is left.

Hi, Linda! Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback! We've noticed this issue crop up a few months ago. Instead of applying a bandage fix, we have decided to completely overhaul our backend voicemail system as a long-term solution and we hope to get this out to you within a couple weeks. We know how important voice messages are!!

I find this app to be very helpful because I have a difficult time understanding people on the phone with my hearing loss. The app works great at translating people's voice into text at least 99% of the time. Sometimes it puts the wrong word in the text. But overall I like this app and would highly recommend it for people with hearing problems.

Cliff notes: I recommend this app if your hard of hearing. The app is going strong even under new ownership. 1.bMy main gripe on is none here.. a black theme! Much easier on the eyes in low light conditions. 2. Custom contact notes (phone numbers will display but it's hard for contacts with many numbers to be differentiated) is still an issue but i wonder if this is an Android limitation rather than a developer issue. 3. Issues with phone calls over Bluetooth are non existent now.
