Far and away the best way to get around Montreal on a budget. Bixi locations are also integrated into Google maps so if you have wireless earbuds you can navigate the city via audio prompts. The manual bikes are geared easily enough for most and the electric bikes are great if you need a boost. The system is super simple to use on a trip by trip basis, or with a monthly membership.

Update Nov. 23: for such an important app, it's surprising that it still won't show me where I am on a map, and that there are almost no customization options in 'settings', or that almost-empty stations show up as green. ... It was working pretty well last year. Now it crashes after a few seconds, makng it almost useless - even after three updates. I love BIXI but they HAVE to fix this essential app ASAP.

Bixi is a really cool service no doubt. For the price its a real no brainer. Giving 4 stars because I've noticed bixi seats can be alittle touch and go. I prefer my seat at number five anything lower or higher can cause issues. Bikes are not always in good condition. Sometimes the bell doesn't work or bike is running in a rikity fashion and maybe brakes could use some maintenance. I feel like electric bikes are still too expensive. Would pay more on season pass to have them included.
