Automation

To start detox automatically from Tasker or similar:

Accessibility Service

In order to effectively block you from using the addictive and distracting apps the "Digital Detox" app may ask you to enable its Accessibility Service if you decide to use the cheating protection features. We use this service only to block you from leaving an ongoing Detox without paying an accountability fee or using a quit code (the cheating). We do not use the service to collect any personal information.

Device Admin

If granted by the user, "Digital Detox" app may use the Device Administrator permission to (and only to) prevent users from cheating - make uninstalling of the app during an active Detox harder.

Great app. I just don't understand why the schedule doesn't work. When your scheduled ends, the next one won't trigger automatically. I need to restart my phone. --- Also, it is very annoying that every time I get my phone, I don't have a lock screen anymore. I need to choose an app, unlock the phone and close the app to see my default launcher (I know this is a beta version, so I'm not removing any star on that ) ---

Absolutely amazing that this app is free. Impossible to quit out of if you use the right settings. Which is exactly what I needed and was looking for. I can't express how grateful I am that this app is free. This app deserves waaaay more attention instead of all those other "productivity" apps that most people just end up giving up on anyways. The fact that this one actually locks your phone keeps you accountable, and is way more successful at breaking bad habits then any other app I've used.

Very mixed feelings. It works well as an app, however I discovered a very easy way to bypass the app last night. Without giving too much info - you'd have to use another app like Andoff, to prevent this. Essentially although the app takes device admin status, it is unable to prevent launch into different run levels - perhaps the dev will know what I am talking about. Hopefully they find a way to prevent that workaround. I may have to go back to using a dumb phone.
