Ratings and reviews

The new course halts and paywalls your progress. I'm okay with charging for bonus content, or showing ads, but completely stopping progress unless you pay is a dealbreaker. The new images for lessons are also terrible. Many of them are from movies and TV shows. It's often unclear what the image is trying to convey. You spend more time trying to guess what the image means, and less trying to translate the image's message.

Good alternative to Duo for learning Chinese, with some advantages (real speakers, literal translation, history) and some disadvantages (a bit unpolished at times, not usable in the long term without a paid subscription.) Extremely unfortunate that there is no ad-supported free tier as it would open the door to many more learners.

I love it! It helped me so much to be more flexible with my chinese and pronunciations and how the grammar works! I'm quickly able to read chinese characters without pinyin thanks to this app! But one problem I have is that I have to search the stroke orders for most characters because it doesn't show it for every character. (I think. I'll change my rating if I'm wrong!) Edit: They do! Thank you!
