About this app

Learn to write Chinese characters with Skritter, whether you have a strong grasp of written Chinese and want to remember the characters better or are a beginner who doesn’t know where to start.

Skritter has existed for more than 10 years, and for a good reason: our learners are amazing! They help us with feedback, which allows us to create what we think is the best way to learn to write Chinese out there!

If you have tried to write Chinese before, you probably noticed that it requires us to learn characters rather than the roman alphabet we know from English. You can learn it through our “decks” (similar to a card deck) based on topics and difficulty.

Deck examples:
- Ordering or making coffee or tea (so you can get your morning caffeine fix)
- Chinese Stroke Order (master the rules quickly and efficiently)
- HSK 1-6
- More advanced topics like Yoga and talking about your Emotions
- And many more…

First, you learn a character’s meaning, reading, and tone; then practice writing it. Before you know it, you’ll want to learn thousands of characters. Try our app and see for yourself why thousands of people use it every day.

Have questions, problems, or feedback? We would love to hear from you. Reach out to us at team@skritter.com

This app is the only one of its kind. It really helps me study on the go and I don't know how I'd manage to learn characters efficiently without it. However, after my trial, I wanted to purchase a year long plan and wasn't able to without going to the desktop version. I sent an email to support and no one ever got back to me. I still love and would 100 percent recommend this app to anyone trying to learn Chinese though!

Hi Kat! Did you send an email to team@skritter.com? It looks like we unfortunately didn't receive an email from you. Please reach out to us if you can! Thanks very much for your review. :)

First off, Skritter has A LOT of vocabulary. However, I'm not the biggest fan of the process of learning a word—a visual would be better. But that's probably just me. If you wanna learn Mandarin Chinese (traditional characters), you won't find a better app. I've ventured through a myriad of recommendations that support traditional characters with no success.

Thanks for the review. The learning process and methodology are things we look forward to continuing to improve as time goes on. If you haven't done so already, be sure to check out the Taiwan MoE beta font support and rawest squigs, for the ultimate traditional character writing support!

Good app in the sense that it serves its basic function well: a platform to read and write singular Chinese words. There are a couple things preventing me from giving it 5 stars. First, the context provided for word definitions is pretty poor, which means this isn't the best app to improve overall vocabulary or grammar. Second, it has several unaddressed functional bugs on the app and the website. Don't have the space for a detailed review, but happy to speak with the devs.
