At Google Nest, we make products that are beautiful, helpful and easy to use. The Nest app is no exception.

Control your Nest thermostat, arm and disarm your Nest Secure alarm system, see your home with Nest Cam, and get an alert if Nest Protect goes off – all in one place. And receive notifications on your Android phone or tablet.

Nest uses sensors, algorithms, and the location of your phone to do the right thing automatically, turning off the heat and turning on the camera when you leave. Forget to set the alarm? It will notice, and send you a Remind Me alert.

Ratings and reviews

You can't run the fan when set to Off mode?! Unbelievable. Just because I don't want heat or cool, doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to blow air around. Even cheap old thermostats can do that. Also needs permanent hold option, mainly because if I turn it to Off, the fan will no longer kick on, as mentioned. Also would like more versatility to how often the fan runs rather than the same amount of time every hour. Edit: the links provided are not helpful and confirm what I said above.

The Nest layout has a very nice look and simplicity to it. That is about the extent of the application's reach in my opinion. I purchased a Nest smoke detector and was very disappointed to find there was no way to link it to the Google Home app whatsoever. The Nest is a Google product and the fact you can get third party apps like Dyson, Shark, and Wiz to connect to the Home app, it is kind of baffling that the Nest can't. It has so much potential if improved upon.

Meh..not sure if it's the app or the products but I'm increasingly growing less and less impressed by Nest. Doorbell rings...forget about answering the doorbell through the app. People have walked away by then. Will probably ditch the entire set up within the next year if it doesn't improve. Now the home away feature is spotty at best. Supposed to turn cameras off and on but nope.
