- Location: Used to show your location when you use the map, directions, navigation, and more. (Allow all the time must be selected to display location information in the widget.)
- Microphone: Used for voice search and Clova voice commands.
- Physical activity: Used to detect your step count in walking directions. (Only on devices running OS 10.0 or later)
- Phone: Used to check call status and make calls when entering and using navigation.
- Call logs: Accessed to confirm recipients when making calls or sending messages during navigation. (Call logs are no longer used as of NAVER Maps v6.3.)

Ratings and reviews

While I appreciate the English version, especially since Google Maps isn't really available here in South Korea, the app still needs a lot of work. On occassion, i'm given very confusing (walking) directions and recently I wasted about 20 minutes being sent in the wrong direction, trying to find a hospital. Also, it would be very nice to use Hangeul whenever possible because very often the location names won't appear when using English/Roman letters

Can really help getting around. As good as or sometimes better with locations and being up to date than other apps in Korea but not outside the country. The English in ALL aspects really needs a lot of help. For instance spelling of locations (most things I have to type in Korean because the spelling in English is so bad), and customer service (I don't even think it exists at all.

The system of saving favourite addresses is an absolute mess on this app. There are two or three different ways for saving destinations but when you want to pull them up later to go to there, it's impossible to find them. They save to various unintuitive, scattered folders. Just put all favourite addresses in one single folder and allow people to select them easily when needed, it's such a basic thing! Potentially a great app for English speakers in Korea, ruined by bugs and stupid design.
