incredibly versatile app for exploring. you get access to several different satellite images, weather, topology, geology, fires, parcel data down to the name of the owner, multiple road overlays, and practically everything else you can imagine. you can stack layers, save routes... this is the most well put together, useful app I've come across. onX doesn't come close.

The mobile app is a total Fail if you are trying to navigate in an offline environment like... deep in the wilderness or even state or national parks where internet is not available. It simply doesn't work and I have had much conversation with support on this to be sure it wasn't me. I have the Desktop subscription and mainly bought this to build maps for print and for that, this app is the absolute best. So, the rating is for the mobile app only.

I used to really like Caltopo. My only problem with it was the inability to "move" tracks between maps. You have to download then reupload. But sometime in the past 6 months, the app has become increasingly buggy. It's ridiculously slow, downloading is almost impossible because the app seems to freeze 95% of the time, and all sorts of other issues. I'm probably going to switch over to Gaia or something else after my subscription is up.
