About this app

The MDT 511 mobile application provides real-time access to traveler information supplied by the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT). Maps depict current roadway conditions and the latest incident, construction, and restriction information on all Interstate, U.S., and State Routes. Forecasted road condition threats for the upcoming 24 hours are described in the road segment reports, and where there are such threats may be viewed on the map. The maps also indicate the location of roadside cameras and allow the user to view camera images. As the user moves through the highway network, the app keeps track of the user’s location on the map. MDT also maintains a Twitter feed accessible through the 511 mobile application's main menu. Finally, the mobile application links surrounding states' mobile applications and mobile websites.

What happened to the rest of the cameras? Malta, Saco, Hays just to name a few. It is difficult to navigate, also on cams you used to be able to get.air temp, surface temp, winds, etc. Now you can only get them one at a time then go back to the legend and select another. This app is far to complicated for most people. The old app was a better app with much better options, and far easier to get information, may be good one day, but has a long way to go.

This app needs a serious rework. Currently is crashing, will not open. When it does open the cameras are not a default setting. All I'm interested in is road conditions and cameras. The road conditions key is not easy to read, especially when there are precipitation layers added. There's way too many layers that cannot be filtered. The old app was so much simpler and easier to view.

The app is constantly crashing. If there is no internet it crashes. To use it i have to open it, let it crash, then open it again. If it goes into the background or the phone goes to sleep, the next time I pull it up it crashes. I have kind of got used to pulling it up, waiting for the crash, then pulling it up again to use.
