About this app

Use the SynScan app to control Sky-Watcher telescope mounts via Wi-Fi, USB or Bluetooth LE. Mounts without built-in Wi-Fi can be supported via a SynScan Wi-Fi adapter.

This is the Pro version of the SynScan app and contains features suited for expert users using equatorial mounts.

- Control telescope mount to slew, align, GOTO and track.
- Point And Track: track celestial objects (including the Sun and planets) without aligning.
- Support gamepad navigation.
- Browse a catalog of stars, comets, and deep sky objects. Or, save your own objects.
- Provide access to mount for use by third-party apps, including ASCOM clients, SkySafari, Luminos, Stellarium Mobile Plus, Stellarium Desktop or customer-developed apps.
- Support access to the mount and the SynScan app from any platform that supports TCP/UDP connections.
- Provide emulator mount for testing and practicing.
- Track fast-moving earth satellites by working with the PreviSat app on Windows PC or the Lumios app on iOS devices.
- SynMatrix AutoAlign: use the smartphone camera to align the telescope automatically.
- Perform polar alignment with or without a polar scope.
- Control shutter release (SNAP) port to trigger an attached camera. (Requires mount with SNAP port and adapter cable that matches camera.)
- Use ASCOM to perform autoguiding on mounts that do not have autoguider (ST-4) port.
- Other mount controls: auto home, PPEC, park

Ratings and reviews

I'm sorry others have had issues but my experience as a visual observer with the app and my AZ-GTi(X) has been nothing but positive. I've never dropped wifi, even when I've switched to Sky Safari to view the sky map. The "Tonight's Best" works better than Safari as it shows Alt/Az degrees for everything listed so you needn't waste time trying to point at objects obscured by trees or clouds. It used to be that it made nicer with Android than iOS, but I understood those problems were solved.

Complete and utter trash. The mount and the app. Never know if either will work on any given day. Today, the app connects to the mount but when I click any of the alignment options, it crashes. Last month, the mount simply stopped working. No errors, just stopped. Next time I tried using it, it was fine. Do not buy Skywatcher products unless you like being frustrated with poor quality and setting your money on fire.

Excellent app. Been using it for almost two years with absolutely no issues whatsoever. Never lost a signal, never stopped working even after running for lots of nights doing astrophotography, running for 3 to 5 hours a night. I run the free version for about 6 months with same success and because I love it so much I purchased the paid version and running it ever since. I will pay five times the price they ask for the paid version if I had to, that's how good the app it is.
