Winix Smart App requires permissions to the following services:
Even if you do not allow optional permissions, you can still use the service limitedly.

- Location (optional) : Needed to access your current outdoor air quality location.
- Call (optional) : Needed to call customer service.

(The Winix Samrt app never performs other functions using the above permission.)

This app exceeds my expectations! It has come a long way from when I first purchased my unit. Originally, I couldn't use it with my GF mesh routers. So, I was guessing as to when the HEPA filter needed to be changed. Now, it is set up on the front page of the app. It has slowly progressed as it gets full. I also like the AQI for outdoors and indoors. I tend to check the app quite often.

For an app in 2024 it's very laggy but eventually does what you want. Overall impression... someone needs to try harder and do better. The frustrating thing is that the unit itself works pretty well. Update: a recent update made it less laggy, but then quickly regressed. One of their competitors apps is very snappy and works much better. There are enough features in the app...4 stars. Real life usage...0 stars. Pretty awful, and to advertise wifi features is frankly misleading.

I've only managed to get my device to connect to the Wi-Fi one time by some miracle. Then the power went down one day and that dream has been lost. I also got a new phone recently and tried to login to the app and try again, it says my password that has never changed doesn't work. So I tried to follow the steps to reset, but it sends the verification to email. You go to email to get the code and come back, and the screen refreshes every time so you can't enter the code.
