About this app

Put on some headphones, tap the center button, and you can hear and amplify what your phone's microphone is picking up. Use headphones to avoid audio feedback.

It's also possible to record audio and set up an automatic noise-trigger to get notified via email that a specified noise level threshold was exceeded.

Whether you want to responsibly audio-monitor your environment, or just amplify sounds for fun, Ear Scout streams the audio from the mic to your headphones in real time. To fine-tune the incoming signal, use the audio equalizer.

DISCLAIMER. This app is for non-harmful sound amplification (e.g. listening to nature / property monitoring), not to listen in on private conversations via Bluetooth. Use Ear Scout responsibly.

On of the best apps for distant listening and I've tried a lot of them. Easy to use and easy to understand plus the sound booster and equalizer are added bonuses. Some other apps let you listen but not record or vise versa. You can listen, record and tweak it with the equalizer all in one place. Recommend it 9/10. Would say 10/10 if we could edit it too. .like cut out parts and keep what you need. But can't complain.

I've used this for a few years and experimented with different ways of using it. Making a cone out of cardboard and putting the narrow end to the microphone can kinda turn it into a parabolic microphone, or at least make it more directional. Works well in conjunction with the "sound amplifier" app. I recommend Audio Lab to clean up any recordings you make. You can greatly enhance any recordings with that app also. There's almost no limit to what you can hear and record between this & that app

Ear Scout is a commendable app, don't get me wrong. It certainly amplifies the sound of your device's mic and picks up otherwise faint or distant sounds very well, but I am ditching this app and uninstalling it now that I've noticed the app alone takes up over 1 whole gigabyte of space! That is a deal-breaker for me, despite the fact that I have over 1 terabyte worth of space— seems entirely to large for its functions.
