Duolingo is good to use for learning new vocab and has lots of creative ways to help you in what you're learning. However, with recent changes, it is clear and obvious that they want people to buy Superduolingo. They took away one of main routes of reinforcement. That is being able to practice whenever you want. This would get your hearts (health) back. They took this option away and upped the time it took to normally regain hearts. One could argue that these changes do make it not free anymore.

This is a great app for what it is. The Algorithms make mistakes sometimes (incorrect pronunciation, translation, grammar, etc), but it's pretty good most of the time. Just take everything you learn and hear with a grain of salt, and you'll be fine. The best part is how engaging and motivating it is. There are many things I wish it did (that it doesn't), and not every language "course" is the same quality, but this a great compliment (but not replacement) for any language study or journey.

This app has undergone many changes in just the past couple of years. Once, it contained lessons, lectures, explanations of grammatical and syntactical structures, and comment threads for learners to "study together," to engage with each other to offer a hand where needed. It used to offer techniques to guide users away from making mistakes. The developers have removed those features, as well as the opportunity to practice. If you can't practice, you can't learn; I advise choosing another app.
