About this app

Take the guesswork out of figuring out how many calories to eat! By entering your caloric intake and body weight regularly, Adaptive TDEE Calculator will tell you exactly how many calories your body burns each day, making it easy to figure out how much you need to eat.

• Prevents weight loss / weight gain plateaus
• Prevents you from bulking (gaining weight) too quickly

FAQ
How do I use the app?
Enter your body weight and caloric intake on a regular basis. The app will do some math, and then calculate how many calories your body uses each day! The more data you enter, the more accurate the calculation will be.

How long does it take to get an accurate number?
At least 3 weeks. It may take longer depending on how much your body weight and caloric intake varies from day to day.

Do I have to enter data every day?
You can skip a day, enter only calories, or enter only weight without interfering with the calculations.

Can I sync with MyFitnessPal or other food trackers?
You can sync with any food tracker that supports exporting its weight and calorie information to Google Fit. However, many food trackers have recently removed this feature. There is no known food tracker that fully supports it, but some partially support it. MyFitnessPal only exports weight data, and Cronometer no longer exports weight or calorie data.

How is this different than other TDEE calculators?
Because it is adaptive! The calculated TDEE is based on your actual body weight changes and caloric intake. Other TDEE calculators only provide a rough approximation based off estimated activity levels. Since it can be hard to know if your activity level is "high" or "very high", and since metabolism can vary slightly from person to person, other TDEE calculators can be way off. This app can account for that! It is similar to the popular nSuns TDEE spreadsheet.

How does it work? How is "Current weight change" determined?
The app uses linear regression (line of best fit) to determine the rate at which you are gaining or losing weight. It then calculates the average number of calories you eat. From there, it can estimate your TDEE. For example, if you eat 2500 Calories per day, and are gaining 1/2 pound per week, then your TDEE will be 2250 Calories per day.

How is "Calorie change needed" determined?
It is the difference between "Need to eat" and the average number of calories eaten over the past 49 days (customizable in settings).

Nice app. Keeping it streamlined like this is great but if you add a feature, let it be import/export .csv or at least the option to copy the info you've entered. Thanks. ETA I just realized something. I also don't get to track data on how your TDEE estimate changes. It doesn't show up in the table or the graph, only the input screen, which is a shame because that's the y-value you're providing, after all. Edit 6-30-20: Y'all are the best. Thanks for the export update! Works like a charm.

Thanks for the feedback. CSV import/export was added in the most recent update. It's available in settings. TDEE estimate history is now the top requested feature. I'll try to add it in the next major version.

Simply amazing. I sync Google Fit with this app, which is tied to my calorie traker (MFP) & smart scale. It takes the guesswork out of getting TDEE right, AND it adapts as your personal TDEE does. I wish more apps were as clean, focused, & accurate based on your own CURRENT individual data. A true Masterpiece. The weight & calorie chart is a great bonus so spikes & dips can be visually correlated. If you are looking for this type of thing & you track your weight & calories daily, look no further

Great and accurate! The only thing I wish it had was the ability to see the changing TDEE over time, so I can see if I've increased it or decreased it. I also wish I knew more about the most ideal settings to keep an far as how far back to go for calculations, etc. I still love this app though.

Hi Elizabeth, thanks for the feedback. The ability to see the changing TDEE over time is in the new update just released. The default settings for 'Days used for calculation' should work well, but you can experiment with it to see. Using the graphing feature and new TDEE history feature and can make it easier to check which values work well for you
