1: Rewards Checking Plus customers who set up monthly direct deposits (https://www.upgrade.com/deposits/active-account/) of $1,000 or more earn 2% cash back on common everyday expenses at convenience stores, drugstores, restaurants and bars - including deliveries - and gas stations, as well as recurring payments on utilities and monthly subscriptions including phone, cable, TV and other streaming services, and 1% cash back on all other debit card purchases. 2% cash back is limited to $500 in rewards per calendar year; after $500, customers earn 1% cash back on all eligible debit card purchases for the remainder of the year. Rewards Checking Plus accounts with less than $1,000 in monthly direct deposits 60 days after account opening will earn 1% cash back on common everyday expenses and 0.50% cash back on all other eligible debit card purchases. 2: Early direct deposit requires set up of recurring electronic direct deposit from your employer, payroll, or benefits provider and is limited to direct deposits under $5000. Early access to direct deposit funds depends on the timing in which we receive notice of impending direct deposit, which is generally up to two days before the scheduled deposit date.

4: With Upgrade Shopping powered by Dosh® you accrue cash back on qualifying purchases at participating merchants. For the current list of participating merchants and offers available to you, go to Upgrade Shopping on your account dashboard and click on offers or shop in store to claim rewards. Personal loans made through Upgrade feature Annual Percentage Rates (APRs) of 9.99%-35.99%. All personal loans have a 1.85% to 9.99% origination fee, which is deducted from the loan proceeds. Lowest rates require Autopay and paying off a portion of existing debt directly. Loans feature repayment terms of 24 to 84 months. For example, if you receive a $10,000 loan with a 36-month term and a 17.59% APR (which includes a 13.94% yearly interest rate and a 5% one-time origination fee), you would receive $9,500 in your account and would have a required monthly payment of $341.48. Over the life of the loan, your payments would total $12,293.46. The APR on your loan may be higher or lower and your loan offers may not have multiple term lengths available. Actual rate depends on credit score, credit usage history, loan term, and other factors. Late payments or subsequent charges and fees may increase the cost of your fixed rate loan. There is no fee or penalty for repaying a loan early.

Ratings and reviews

The app is HORRIBLE. It says my external account is connected but its not. Then I try to navigate through the app and it starts JUMPING!!! I will not use until I see improvements. Update 10/28/2024 this has literally turned into one of my favorite banks!! Great improvements over the last couple of years!

They gave me a consolidation loan, so I started an account with them, swapped my direct deposits to upgrade, and everything was going fine. Then, I tried to use the check by phone feature. They told me to write deposit on it but keep the check, but they got it and will deposit it. 2 days later, they cancel the check instead of deposit it, with no reason given. It was a closeout check from my account with USAA so I know it was good. Anyway, about to close the account and swap over to another

Dirtbags! I first got the credit account, used the credit, paid the entire thing off the next month. They rewarded me being a good customer by lowering my credit limit by half. Also takes way over 10 days to have your payments applied to your accounts. They hold on to your money as long as they can. If you qualify for any of their bonuses, make sure you hound them the moment you qualify for it, otherwise they won't give it to you and requires hours of calls and emails to get your promised money
