When installing IRS2Go, you may see a list of Android permissions that the app requests. To help you understand why we ask for certain permissions, we’ve provided a breakdown of the usage.


"Location – Uses the device’s location."
The app allows taxpayers to search for nearby Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) locations, which offer free tax help for taxpayers who qualify.

"Phone – Uses one or more of: phone, call log."
The app allows users to make phone calls to the IRS or VITA/TCE locations.

"Photos/Media/Files – Uses one or more of: files on the device, such as images, videos, or audio; the device’s external storage."
The Free Tax Help mapping feature uses these permissions to save map images and data to your phone's storage. This means that your phone won't need to download the same map data every time.

Ratings and reviews

Very dangerous. Twice now, I've opened the app, and it had my return info filled in from the previous session. Granted, the first 5 of the social security number are censored, the last 4 aren't. The app won't give info on return unless I force close it and open it again, but the fact that I have to do that despite the app not running in the background to begin with is concerning.

I can never get into my account it's always talking about the password and then I was talking about an outage I reset my password to try to get in my account multiple times within the last 6 months I am still trying to speak with the alarm from IRS I don't appreciate being able to have this account and not being able to use it as a fishing as I should have

Too bad there isn't a "zero stars" option! App does NOT work. Kept telling me the information entered was wrong, but it's exactly as on my return.
