About this app

Droid Dashcam is a great driving video recorder (dashboard camera, BlackBox) app for car/vehicle drivers which can continuously record videos in loop mode, add subtitles with needed information directly on those videos (read below) and record in background, autostart recording and much more.

Features:

* Hardcoded (embedded) Subtitles - Overlay Captions directly on Recording Video file:
- Timestamp (Date)
- Location Address
- GPS Coordinates
- Speed (based on GPS data)
- Vehicle registration plate (car number)

* Background Video Recording - you can continue recording in background and use other apps which doesn't use camera. You can also use notification panel to start/stop recording while this app is running in background.

* Loop Recording - auto deleting old video files when there is not enough space for new videos (you can set max space usage for all videos)

* Options for autostarting recording on charging on/off, on system boot, on Bluetooth device connection/disconnection, AUX-cable connection, or on app launch

* Small (Lightweight) app size

* Automatic change of day and night video recording mode

* Landscape and Portrait Orientations for video recording

* Share or upload a selected video to various services

* Recording in Shared Movies folder or App owned folders (phone and external SDcard storages) - can be set in the settings

* Lock videos from overwriting (G-shock sensor) on impact detection

* Videos Screen which allows selecting video you want and playing it using any video player app you have, deleting selected videos

* Easy to use, simple UI, the configuration of the buttons displayed on the screen, etc.

* Camera selection - you can use any camera for recording (rear/front) but only some devices allows to choose camera with wide-angle lens

* Taking photos

* Floating window with control buttons on top of all applications

* FAQ * https://github.com/HelgeApps/droid_dashcam_faq/wiki/en - answers to frequent questions or feature requests like
- Video Stabilization (EIS, Electronic stabilization) is not available in the app
- Multiple cameras / wide lens camera not available in the app
- Battery usage is high, battery drains fast, device becomes hot

Video quality is trash. You can't read plate numbers or signage because the video is so grainy. I have a Note 20 Ultra, so this shouldn't be a problem. I have video settings at 4k resolution in the app. When I use my camera to shoot video, it's crystal clear. Edit: developer helped me get video resolution fixed. Now my only complaint is that you can only utilize one camera. Maybe limitations to making that happen considering different phones have different specs, but it would be nice

Please increase the bitrate in the video settings, 4k resolution requires higher bitrate

Overall, it's a great app and exactly what I've been looking for. However, it lacks at least one feature that would make a drastic change in quality. 1: allow full focus control. The current presets don't work well enough. Either infinite focus is still out of focus slightly or it sets to super close up on my other phone. The auto focus senses the windshield too much and therefore is unfocused outside. 2: why no option for 60fps like it says in the setting but I don't see it in the video optio

Whenever setting up folders when I do the video portion it would go to the right location but when I set up the photo portion it would add an extra photo folder (dashcam/photos/photos) When it should be (dashcam/photos) I sent the directory as dashcam and it builds his own folder structure, creating two photo folders instead of one piss me off so much. I deleted the app and decided not to pay for a license

Hi. Just please select the outer folder and not DroidDashcam, for example /DCIM OR /Movies instead of /DCIM/DroidDashcam or /Movies/DroidDashcam. Yes, this is a bug, but it's not really that significant and can be avoided, but it will be fixed in the next update

What's new

Fixes automatic recording when face lock finishes using the camera and releases for the app but app should not continue recording if charger is unplugged or Bluetooth is not connected.

- OPEN BETA testing with reimplemented UI by new Android technologies (design mostly the same) to support app much better with some new features available - https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.helge.droiddashcam
