Far and away the best way to get around Montreal on a budget. Bixi locations are also integrated into Google maps so if you have wireless earbuds you can navigate the city via audio prompts. The manual bikes are geared easily enough for most and the electric bikes are great if you need a boost. The system is super simple to use on a trip by trip basis, or with a monthly membership.

I will keep using this app. It is helpful and a great asset for the price. But it has been a bit of an issue at times where bikes haven't been available, and more so where the drop off stations are full, but don't say so on the app. When a rack says there are spaces and there are only broken racks, JUST SAY IT IS FULL! For the last 2 evenings, I've had to go to 4-5 stations before finding one that has a spot, when all of them said they had at least one dock available. Sort it out.

Update Nov. 23: for such an important app, it's surprising that it still won't show me where I am on a map, and that there are almost no customization options in 'settings', or that almost-empty stations show up as green. ... It was working pretty well last year. Now it crashes after a few seconds, makng it almost useless - even after three updates. I love BIXI but they HAVE to fix this essential app ASAP.
