When I was working towards becoming a research psychologist, I found my own severe social anxiety was making it impossible to maintain the high level of networking needed to succeed in the field. And being a financially limited student, the massive expense of therapy was not an option.
Honestly, it was ruining my life.
That was when I learned about cognitive behavioral therapy, which is designed to teach you to be your own therapist. Researching it on my own helped me a lot, and I wondered why more people didn't try it for their own social anxiety. I realized that other people didn't have easy access to this information because most of the science of psychology is hidden away in journals.
But I could change all that.
I wanted to design something that not only taught cognitive behavioral therapy, but made it fun. Something that would be affordable to everyone. Something interactive and encouraging in a way no other mental health app ever had been.
So I switched fields to software engineering and made a smartphone game that treats social anxiety. I hope you will find it helpful.
