About this app

Automatically count calories by taking food photos! Calorie counting should be as simple, fun, and easy as taking a picture of your food. Calorie Mama can tell you the calories in your food just by analyzing your food photos. It can recognize thousands of food categories including staples such as fruits, vegetables, meats, grains, beverages; complex cuisines and dishes such as American, Western, European, Asian, Latin American; and US/Canada packaged foods with a front-facing image or barcode.

How It Works:
1) Snap a picture of your food
2) Calorie Mama analyzes your food photo and suggests what the food might be
3) Confirm the food to log your calories!

The more you snap, the more accurate and smarter Calorie Mama gets!

More Details:
The creators of Fitness Buddy, Instant Heart Rate, Argus, and Sleep Time bring to you Calorie Mama, a simple, elegant food tracker and calorie counter uses food recognition machine learning algorithms to identify many different foods, including packaged goods and barcodes. We do a lot of fancy work behind the scenes with deep artificial intelligence (AI), neural networks, computer vision, image recognition, to provide you with nutrition data. Our food detection and identification platform can recognize Western, European, Asian, Latin American and many more cuisines. Our app also detects packaged foods with a front-facing image or barcode for most US/Canada items. Snap a food photo and you’ll be surprised at what Calorie Mama can detect! Very cool features, lots of potential, just doesn't work properly. It wouldn't recognize canned drinks and wouldn't let me log drinks or food without pictures. It wouldn't let me log dinner at all and when I closed the app and opened it again, it had erased all of my meals from today. I can't put them back in without pictures of them. When I tried to report the bug, it didn't have a simple way to do that.

Has a lot of potential but there are lots of bugs. Tried using it for a few days and all data gets "moved" to the previous day, and all of a sudden my workouts and exercise sessions disappeared. Will be trying something else, which sucks because I use it in tandem with FitnessBuddy.

On a good way, needs a global barcode database, otherwise a US-only app. Combined with the fact that adding your own items does not allow you to add the macro composition without going premium is a real show stopper. That's a basic function that pretty much all competitors offer. Don't shoot yourself in the leg by being greedy. You won't convert users going premium for basics - right from the beginning with the first steps they're taking with your app, but only frustrate them, causing uninstalls
